Steven Matarazzo :: Animation & More

I love animation, so I'm always doing new tests and experiments. These are a few animation tests I've made or are in progress. Some of them lack color or are incomplete. Unless otherwise noted all chracters, backgrounds, animation and artwork were created by myself. 'Candy Bar' is the only non-test item here, it's my first short cartoon, completed during High School ages ago.

All of them are created in Flash or Toon Boom and exported in either QuickTime, Flash, or hosted on YouTube. The cartoon character in the green shirt is named 'Mac', he's my own crazy creation.

Mac & The Butterfly [Flash] (2012)

I was originally going to have the character simply jump, but I had an ieda (a happy accident)
to have him try to catch a butterfly. I think it's a lot more fun then a simple (and a bit boring) jump.

Rabbit Run Test [Toon Boom] (2015)

This is a fun little test I did of a rabbit running recently.

Mac Mugen (Fighting Game) Sprite and Animation (2010)

There has always been a 'Happy Mac' and a very cray looking 'Angry Mac' design of my character.
I made this Angry Mac character (the large guy in green) into a controllable, usable character in the PC fighting game
known as M.U.G.E.N. This game is designed to support thousands of different characters, so I made my own.
The tools were ancient (MS-DOS), it was time consuming, and it was hard work. But the end result was worth it. It's a lot of fun
to watch, and even more fun to play! Note: The background and Ninja opponent character were not created by myself.

Lou Run Test [Paper & Pencil] (2009)

To try and see what it was like in the old days I attempted to create an animation run cycle using only pencil & paper.
I later scanned in each page & compiled it into a video for YouTube.

The 3D orange model was not created by myself - it's the Buckid model.

This is an animation test I'm working on to show the emotions and reactions of my character Mac.

A quick test I made of Mac in a Ninja outfit. Just having some fun and jumping around.

This was made during school, it was supposed to be a hangman game. But instead of hanging Mac I came up with a creative solution instead. Much better then letting him hang!
